Trust / Data Rights
Use evidence within the rights that govern it.
Talvrin treats licensing, entitlement and permitted-use requirements as part of evidence governance. Access to a source is not the same as permission to display, redistribute, retain or expose it in every context.
Rights state is governed. Talvrin does not assume a right merely because a source can be discovered or accessed.

Doctrine, Not a License Catalog
Six principles, each with an implementation rule.
Rights are a first-class part of the evidence chain. Each principle below converts into a concrete product rule, not a compliance slogan.
Principle 1
Rights before exposure
Content is not exposed before the current rights state permits the action.
Rights state is checked before rendering restricted content, not after.
Principle 2
Entitlement before access
Authentication alone does not prove a user or workspace is entitled to a source.
Sign-in status and provider entitlement are evaluated as separate checks.
Principle 3
Use before redistribution
Permitted research use does not automatically permit sharing or redistribution.
Export, share and API actions run an independent rights check at execution time.
Principle 4
Context before assumption
Rights can depend on source, action, user/workspace, market, jurisdiction and time.
A right is evaluated per action and context — never assumed globally.
Principle 5
Unknown stays unknown
Unresolved rights do not silently become permitted.
Restricted actions fail closed whenever rights cannot be verified.

Source to Experience
Every rights decision follows the same seven stages.
Each stage resolves from governed source and rights metadata — never UI-side guessing. Unknown is a valid stage result, and it never silently becomes permitted.

Behavior Classes, Not Contract Text
Six behavior classes drive what happens next.
These are behavior classes, not a contractual rights taxonomy — the public state shown for any source or action maps to the approved Rights Registry.
- Permitted
- The current approved use or display action is allowed for this context.
- The permitted action and applicable metadata are exposed.
- Limited
- Some uses or actions are allowed for this source; others are not.
- The available action and the limitation are both named — never an ambiguous lock icon alone.
- Restricted
- The requested action is not allowed in the current context.
- No restricted payload is exposed; the next safe action is explained if one exists.
- Entitlement required
- Access depends on a user, workspace or provider entitlement.
- The requirement is explained without implying it can be bypassed or purchased unless true.
- Unavailable
- The approved source or action is not available in this context.
- Source metadata or fallback is shown only if permitted.
- Unknown / unresolved
- Rights state is not safely resolved.
- Fails closed for restricted actions; never defaults to permitted.
Sign-In Is Not a License
Identity, role, entitlement and policy stay separate.
A valid session proves who a user is. It does not prove a source, provider or workspace entitlement exists.

No Leakage, No Dark Patterns
Restricted content stays restricted everywhere — not just on screen.
Unresolved rights fail closed. Restricted payload is never a UI styling problem — it is excluded from the response entirely.
No raw content leakage
Restricted payload never appears in HTML, accessibility strings, hidden DOM, client logs or structured data.
No teaser excerpts
Previews or snippets are not shown unless excerpt display is explicitly permitted.
Traceability preserved where permitted
When an entitled action becomes unavailable, research history is preserved without exposing restricted content.
No manufactured upsell
Restriction is never used to imply an unsupported purchase or upgrade unlocks data.

Source Fact vs Derived Content
Five layers. Rights do not automatically widen as content moves through them.
Normalizing, analyzing or AI-assisting a source does not grant display or redistribution rights the source material never had.

Access ≠ Display ≠ Redistribution
The ability to use a source does not grant the right to show, share or keep it forever.
Public pages show only information explicitly approved for public display. Exports, API responses, downloads, screenshots, alerts, email, collaboration and integrations are separate distribution surfaces, and each requires its own rights check.

Retention and caching are governed, not promised
Storage and caching follow applicable rights and policy. Talvrin does not publish a retention duration or deletion promise without an approved operational contract. Where historical traceability is required, permitted metadata, citation identifiers and version references are preserved instead of restricted content.
Opening a Source Is a Rights Decision
A source-open action appears only when current rights state permits it.
No fabricated "Open source" action ever appears. When no permitted path exists, Talvrin shows permitted metadata and the limitation instead.
| Scenario | Action |
|---|---|
| Open web / public authority source | A direct link may be used when approved and safe. |
| Licensed source with governed viewer | A governed viewer opens only if entitlement and display rights permit it. |
| External provider entitlement needed | Routes to the provider or an approved flow only once contract and UX are established. |
| No permitted source-open path | No fabricated "Open source" action appears; permitted metadata and the limitation are shown instead. |
| Rights state changed after prior review | The current limitation is shown and permitted audit metadata or history is preserved. |
Rights changes are governed, not evergreen
When a contract, entitlement or policy change affects an action, the product updates through the governed registry — never from hard-coded copy. Material changes are auditable: changed field, effective time, and user-impact where permitted.
Global architecture is not global rights
A source or market being architecture-ready, technically ingestible or discoverable does not prove Talvrin has rights to expose it in every geography, plan or workflow. Jurisdiction-sensitive rights are enforced from approved data, never geolocation guesswork.
Owned Elsewhere, On Purpose
Data Rights sets the boundary. These pages own the detail.
Personal-data privacy rights, security controls and cross-jurisdiction governance are distinct trust domains — this page does not restate their detail.
Trust Center
Single entry point for Talvrin’s overall trust model.
Evidence Standards
Evidence quality, source classification, and provenance detail.
Data Sources
Source classes, inventory, and currentness.
Security
Account, workspace, and service protection claims.
Global Data Governance
Jurisdiction and cross-border governance.
Service Status
Live operational status — this page never synthesizes or overrides it.
Privacy
Collection, controls, analytics/consent, and personal-data practices.

Procurement Without Invented Assurance
Enterprise diligence materials, once they exist.
Core rights standards stay public and ungated. Deeper provider-specific review is offered only once an approved diligence process exists.

Answers First
Data Rights frequently asked questions.
It's how Talvrin treats licensing, entitlement, and permitted-use requirements as part of evidence governance — deciding what can be displayed, shared, exported, or kept, action by action and context by context.
No. Talvrin's access to a source is separate from your entitlement to it. Identity, workspace role, provider entitlement, and policy are evaluated as separate checks.
Seeing that a source exists, or its permitted metadata, is a different right from opening or displaying its content. When no permitted source-open path exists, Talvrin shows the metadata and the limitation instead of a fabricated "Open source" action.
Only where the rights permit it. Exports, API responses, downloads, alerts, email, collaboration, and integrations each run their own rights check — permitted research use doesn't automatically permit redistribution.
No. This page covers rights over source content and evidence. Personal-data privacy rights are a separate trust domain covered by Privacy.
Normalizing, analyzing, or AI-assisting a source never widens its rights. AI-assisted output can't display or redistribute restricted material the source itself couldn't.
The product updates through the governed rights registry, not hard-coded copy. The current limitation is shown, and permitted audit metadata or research history is preserved without exposing restricted content.
No. A global architecture doesn't mean global rights. Jurisdiction-sensitive rights are enforced from approved data, never assumed from geolocation.
